A renaissance in tableware - 2006 Peter Schmidt
Arzberg innovations inspired by the trend for cooking and dining in style
Hospitality and perfect dining are back in vogue: tableware is celebrating a comeback. In all media and formats, as part of connoisseur events, such as the Eat’n Style trade fair and in the lifestyle retail sector, the trend for cooking and dining in style has finally reached the tableware. After all, it goes without saying that those who love food and who go to lengths to prepare elaborate dishes also want to serve their creations in style. Beautifully set tables, at which to appreciate good cuisine and good company, are highly esteemed once again.
Tableware is enjoying a renaissance. The porcelain brands which are most popular amongst consumers are those which are modern, contemporary and appealing, and which also offer good value for money (Schöner Wohnen “White Star” 2008). This is precisely where Arzberg is focused and, with its collection for 2009, the company has again demonstrated its expertise when it comes to tableware.
The collection has been shaped by changing lifestyles and eating habits. Today, consumers demand functionality, universality and aesthetics – demands which Arzberg products fulfill as a matter of course. Increasingly, products are required which can be used around the clock in a variety of ways. Starting with the office coffee break and midday snack through to an evening with friends, modern collections should accommodate healthy cuisine as easily as international dishes.
Peter Schmidt’s “Form 2006” which picks up on the popular “oven-to-table” dining trend was predestined to meet these consumer needs. Additions to the range have been developed together with Kolja Kleeberg, head chef and owner of Berlin’s famous “Vau” restaurant. The products add a touch of quality and professionalism to any kitchen. Take, for example, the new small (10 cm) dish, which is truly multitalented. It can be used to serve delicacies straight from the oven on the under plate. As a cover plate for soup bowls, it keeps the croutons crunchy and the soup warm. Also the new plate (24 cm) serves more than just one function: it is just right for serving bread, salads or as a plate on which to place the dressings jug, what’s more, it makes a perfect cover for the bowl. With the new Ristretto espresso cup (0.075l), the “Form 2000” service concept offers everything which the modern stylish table requires.
