FORM 1382 Living with a star

1931: Industrial designer Hermann Gretsch perfects sketch number 1382 in the Arzberg templates book with a last flourish of his pencil, marking a complete rejection of impractical, ornate tableware. And a definitive “yes” in favour of functional, aesthetically pleasing everyday porcelain. “Good form” – finally.

2011: Arzberg’s chief designer Heike Philipp applies the brand name – which has traditionally always been on the underneath of the porcelain – to the top edge of her plate design for the new 1382 starter series: as a visible commitment to “good form”. And a definitive “yes” in favour of affordable, enduring design. “My first Arzberg” – right now.
