The new Arzberg collection Serena Dark and Light has won a “Special Mention“ at the German Design Award 2006 in the category “Excellent Product Design“. With this “Special Mention”, the German Design Award jury honours works that show particularly successful aspects.
“A wonderful collection that combines the floral patterns of the twenties with the modern age.”
This is how the jury members Professor Oliver Grabes and designer Sebastian Herkner described their reasoning behind the award.
With the new decorations in the form of Serena Dark and Serena Light, Arzberg takes hold of typical Art Nouveau floral patterns and interprets them anew. Serena Light plays with discreet grey tones, as well as glowing coral and mint, while Serena Dark is dominated by elegant beige, rosé and rust tones.
Serena was the first project by the Italian designer Serena Confalonieri for Arzberg and her first overall using porcelain. “I approached this project with huge respect and with much enthusiasm. It was exciting to take my ideas to porcelain and I am delighted about the award,” said the 35-year-old artist.
The winners of the German Design Award 2016 will presented with their rewards at the trade fair Ambiente (12 to 16 February 2016) in Frankfurt.
